About

I am retired. There are lots of things I used to be, but the information I want to put here is that I started writing music around 2010, when I took a song-writing class to write one song, just to see if I could. I wrote my one song and then I decided I was done. But then my unacknowledged and subliminal bucket list took hold and I decided to try to write a musical. For some reason, I have found this whole process rather intriguing. And now I have written two full length musicals, one mini-musical, dozens of instrumental pieces, some very personal songs, some kids’ songs, and some miscellaneous snippets of things that may some day be songs.

At first, I was worried that they weren’t good enough for anyone to hear, and then I worried that, although I might have the courage to let someone hear them, they weren’t good enough to be out in public. And the worries about good enough have never really gone away. I am now trying not to worry about whether they are good enough. I am just having fun – if you call fun “working hard to try to make them sound interesting”.

The music was written using a software program called Finale by MakeMusic. The score is then produced using Garritan instrument samples to actually make the audio output. All of the pieces except Where Is Home were produced in this manner. Where Is Home was recorded in the studio of Jayma Superlove, Superlove Studios. The piano accompaniments for the songs in Dealing with Dragons were written by Ron Drotos (KeyboardImprov.com).

Special thanks also to Kathryn Eidson and Gael Murakami for reviewing this web site and making suggestions. They are not, however, responsible for any errors that remain.
